Some pics

Cailen is the best baby ever. I didn't set the time out to write a complete post, but she is amazing and we are so excited about her being in our lives. These pictures are from Cathy's friend Dawn's party for her daughter's 2nd birthday party. Cailen will turn 1 on March 5th.

Far too long...

Wow, what can I say about this wonderful baby?!?! Cailen's venture into the world gave us extreme anxiety having been through all that we have with Kendall. A surprise on many fronts, we were worried about her health, what she will be to us and how we will adapt with yet another baby in less then 3 years.

The week of her delivery was nothing short of stressful. I spent Monday and Tuesday in the hospital with Kendall as she recovered from pneumonia and as soon as we got home, we had to prepare for a planned c-section to deliver Cailen. At around noon on March 5th, Cailen was delivered. Everything was smooth and out came the 9lb, 1oz baby! Wow, she was huge compared to Kendall at 3lbs and Carsen at 6 lbs. She was very healthy and we were very excited to see her.

As we waited to get her back out of the nursery, a call came into my cell phone telling me that Carsen needed to be picked up from daycare because he had pink eye! What else could go wrong??? At that very moment in time, I felt as pushed to the limit as I have ever been. There was no real option but to get Carsen and take him to the doctor. My sister Sue just happened to going by daycare, so she did save me a trip and when she arrived, I took Carsen the doctor and he had to stay home for the rest of the week. With Cathy in the hospital, I was on my own with 2 sick kids and no real chance to go visit. What a rough week...

Well, since then, Cailen has been nothing but a dream baby for us. She quickly started sleeping long periods overnight, sometimes up to 6 hours at a crack. She even had a 9 hour jaunt early on. Things were going great. Today, she goes about 11 hours consistently and rarely, if at all, wakes up in the night.

As hard as it is not to compare the experiences of Kendall to what we now face with Cailen, we still do it. Our biggest struggle with Kendall (eating) seems to be the easiest thing with Cailen. She eats well, she is never fussy and she is always happy. Somebody somewhere has been looking out for us as she continues to give us so much joy and has been a champion sleeper and eater. We couldn't ask for more. In fact, Cathy has said that having Cailen with us wants her to have another. Only thing is that she doesn't want to be pregnant again. Oh well...

Not much else to report other than Cailen has added so much to our life and has rounded out our family in such a positive way. We cherish every day with her.
